Phoenix College Recording Studio

The Phoenix College Audio Production Lab and Recording Studios adaptive reuse project resulted in a full production suite in the heart of the program for students pursuing degrees in Audio Production Technologies and Electronic Music.

The new suite features two control rooms, two live rooms, an isolation booth, and a digital audio lab.

One control room features a hand-crafted primitive-root diffuser fabricated by the university’s ceramics department, bringing a unique aesthetic to the sound diffusion, complimenting the live-end dead-end response.

HVAC systems were designed to be extremely quiet, allowing for clear room miking. Each space is appropriately isolated from adjacent spaces, as is suitable for performing, recording, editing, and mixing.

The students and faculty at Phoenix College have expressed their gratitude and excitement for the finished results.
