Tony Hoover Receives 2019 Miller Award for Excellence in Acoustical Consulting



MCH is proud to announce that Tony Hoover is this year's recipient of the Laymon N. Miller Award for Excellence in Acoustical Consulting!


"The award is to be provided to an individual who has practiced acoustical consulting in an exemplary manner over a sustained period of time to improve acoustical environments in and around buildings, transportation systems, work places, recreational and other occupied spaces such that the quality of life for citizens and communities is significantly enhanced." - Annually/jointly from the National Council of Acoustical Consultants (NCAC) and the Institute of Noise Control Engineering (INCE).


Tony has been a Principal at McKay Conant Hoover for 12 years, following his 25 years with Cavanaugh Tocci Associates in Massachusetts. He has served as Principal Consultant on over 2,000 projects of almost every conceivable type. He was Assistant Professor at Berklee College of Music for 20 years with over 3,000 students, and taught at Harvard, MIT, Boston Architectural Center, Wentworth, Northeastern, Emerson, and for AIA, ASHRAE, AES, and USITT, among others. He has chaired numerous technical sessions on architectural and musical acoustics, and was on the working group responsible for ANSI's "Classroom Acoustics Standard", S-12.60.


Tony is extremely active in professional societies, including in NCAC as Past President, and in the Acoustical Society of America (ASA) as Past Chair of the Technical Committee on Architectural Acoustics and Chair of the College of Fellows.
