Performing Arts Center
Southwestern College
The Performing Arts Center at Southwestern College is a multi-purpose complex, hosting community events, public gatherings, cultural celebrations, and a range of school activities. The principal spaces are the 540-seat Performance Theater and the 151-seat Black Box Theater. This complex also houses two dance instruction classrooms, lecture halls, theater lab classrooms, and stage prop and set construction spaces.
The complex requires extreme sound and impact isolation as well as particularly quiet HVAC noise especially in the larger performance spaces. The unique wood finishes in the Performance Theater are carefully designed to beautifully support a wide range of performance types.
AV systems provide outstanding flexibility, clarity, dependability, and interconnectivity. The designs were updated and revised throughout the design process to address procurement challenges and evolving requests from faculty.
This project is registered for LEED Silver.
MCH provided full-scope acoustical and AV consulting services throughout.
