Mondavi Center for Performing Arts

UC Davis

This highly visible and handsome performing arts complex draws the gaze of nearly all motorists passing the UC Davis Campus on Interstate 80. This is appropriate because the facilities serve the greater Sacramento region as well as the immediate UCD community of students and faculty. Included are two variable acoustics halls:

•1,800-seat room with a 1.4s-2.4s variable reverberation time (unoccupied) with orchestra pit, air-castered orchestra shell and two balconies

•300-seat room with flat floor, movable seating and outdoor access.

The complex opened to marvelous accolades from the visiting conductor and the acoustically sensitive critics at large. Rave reviews have issued forth from renowned conductor Michael Tilson Thomas, the Sacramento Bee, the San Francisco Classical Voice, and The Wall Street Journal.
