Sharp Prebys Innovation and Education Center (SPIEC) is a facility promoting research, training, and innovation and launched with a generous $5M grant from the Conrad Prebys Foundation. Prior to MCH involvement some of the design elements resulting in challenges with sound isolation on one floor, largely related to mullion conditions at the exterior façade of executive office suites. Acoustical deficiencies at speech frequencies due to the mullion construction resulted in high levels of speech intelligibility between offices. MCH assessed the situation and offered cost effective and minimally intrusive recommendations to improve sound isolation through mullions, and provide appropriate levels of speech privacy.
