Swenson Science Center

Cal Lutheran University

This state-of-the-art facility more than doubles the amount of space to accommodate the growth at CLU in the number of students studying science and conducting research.

There are 12 teaching labs and 8 labs for faculty/student research in chemistry, biology and exercise science. Widespread windows put science on display throughout the facility. Multiple breakout areas and conference rooms encourage interaction and enhanced learning experience.

The hybrid HVAC system combines variable-refrigerant-flow heating and cooling with outdoor units that circulate fresh air using heat-exchanger technology.

MCH provided design guidance for comfortable acoustics, including for appropriately quiet HVAC system operation; sound-isolating walls, floor/ceilings, windows, and doors; and laboratory-appropriate sound-absorptive treatments.
