USC's Glorya Kaufman International Dance Center

USC celebrated its new Glorya Kaufman International Dance Center on 05 October 2016. The opening ceremony was well attended, including Glorya Kaufman herself, and renowned-choreographer William Forsythe, who commented,“It’s the most perfectly designed building - the acoustics, the floor, the sound system…it’s unbelievable, it’s state of the art.”

The Bachelor of Fine Arts curriculum is designed to prepare the artist, the innovator, and the entrepreneur. The hallmark of the USC Kaufman School — "The New Movement" — is the development of a new movement model that will be expressed in media, scholarship, studio practice, and choreography for the 21st century.

Located across from the new USC Village and the Thornton School of Music, the 55,000sf, 70ft-tall center is at the gateway of the busiest pedestrian crossing on campus, and becomes the arts nexus at USC. Featured are a Large Dance Performance Studio, 4 Medium Dance Studios, a Small Dance Studio, 2 Classrooms, plus requisite support spaces. MCH provided full-scope acoustical consulting throughout.
