Governor Deukmejian Superior Courthouse

The low-rise, L-shaped, Superior Court building comprises 31 civil and criminal courtrooms which occupy roughly 80 percent of the total square footage. The project houses 800 workers, draws about 4,000 visitors daily, provides 9,200sf of retail space and a basement featuring a "sally port", or controlled-entry space plus an in-custody holding facility. The existing, 1959 courthouse remained open during the construction.

The building is the first for which the Administrative Office of Courts (AOC) of the Judicial Council of California used an innovative delivery arrangement called performance-based infrastructure (PBI), which leverages the private sector’s access to financing, technological expertise, management efficiency, and entrepreneurial spirit to quickly provide a high-quality facility serving the Superior Court of Los Angeles County’s needs and enhance the public’s access to justice.

MCH provided full-scope acoustical, AV, IT and access control consulting.
