St. John Vianney Church

Hacienda Heights, CA

St. John Vianney Church is home to an active Catholic community with over 5,300 registered families. The new Church opened with a celebratory Dedication Mass on June 23, 2018, seven years after the previous Church had been lost to arson.

McKay Conant Hoover Inc. provided full-service acoustical & media systems consulting, from design through construction administration and final tuning. The ceremonial doors and baptismal font are within the footprint of the original church, and the main outline of the original church is an outdoor Gathering Space. The very-busy, adjacent Pomona Highway is fully isolated, and the central HVAC system is inaudible in the worship spaces.

A very active music community includes 40-person choir, praise band, guitar groups, and liturgical music, with an organ with moveable console and a grand piano.  There are two separate but complimentary sound systems; one primarily for spoken word, and the other primarily for music reinforcement.
