Peterson-Kermani Performance Hall
St. Lawrence University
Canton, NY
St. Lawrence University's fully renovated and largely repurposed 160-seat Peterson-Kermani Performance Hall was dedicated in October 2010 as part of a larger renovation of Griffiths Arts Center, which includes a new exterior, the performance hall, classrooms, studios and faculty offices.
The $2M renovation resulted in a full 90degree rotation and reconfiguration of their old, smaller recital hall space, as well as an overall improvement and upgrade to the facility as a performance venue. In addition to improvements in sound isolation from an adjacent corridor, scrupulous attention to HVAC noise control was required since all new equipment required shoehorning into an expanded basement directly beneath the performance platform. The design accommodates future addition of an expanded control room as well as variable acoustic systems that will permit a wider music genre than the initial budget would support.
MCH provided Audiovisual planning and design as well as full-scope Acoustical consulting throughout the design construction administration phases.
