The 396-seat Recital Hall is the centerpiece of the UCSC Music Center featuring a state of the art sound system, theatrical lighting capabilities and a motorized orchestra pit.  Enabled to vary the reverberation time in a wide range (1.25 to 2.5 sec.), the Recital Hall can be adjusted acoustically for different styles of music although the "jazz option" was never effected. The center includes faculty teaching studios, practice rooms, classrooms, a recording studio, ensemble rehearsal room, a 60-seat performance studio, music library, percussion studio, an elaborate electronic music suite and multiple faculty and department offices.
