Genzyme Center

Genzyme Corporation
Cambridge, MA

This 12-story structure provides 920 individual workplaces and conference rooms within the largest corporate office building to earn the LEED Platinum certification and one of only 13 buildings ever to receive this rating. The building uses 32% less water, 38% less total power, 45% less lighting and total energy use is 25% below the new state energy code requirement. The central 13-story atrium links the various areas of the building and above its roof, mirrors track and reflect sunlight into the atrium. MCH was responsible for acoustical and AV design and coordinated with its strategic partner, Acentech, of Cambridge, to achieve a highly satisfactory level of speech privacy and noise control within the interior design hard-finish, thin construction assembly aesthetic of the architects.
