West Hollywood Branch Library

Los Angeles County Library

West Hollywood, CA

This new $64-million library complex opened in late 2011 with roughly 32,000sf — six times larger than its predecessor. The library is the result of a partnership between the Los Angeles County library system, operates the facility, and the city, which paid for its construction.

The library proper occupies the top two floors of the three- story building which also houses a children’s library, teen center, career development center, special collections, community meeting room, 150-seat multipurpose public meeting room (for council and commission meetings and other uses), cafe, bookstore and TV station. MCH provided full-scope acoustical consulting services.

The total project includes two parking garages, a 90-car subterranean structure for the exclusive use of library patrons and a 330-car structure serving the neighborhood. Additional highlights include a multi-use roof with tennis courts and scenic views of Los Angeles and the Hollywood Hills.
