Appaloosa Branch Library
Scottsdale Public Library
Scottsdale, AZ
MCH provided full acoustical consulting services for this 21,500 SF, $11M full-service branch library which houses an 80,000 piece collection, 40 public computers, wireless internet access, teen and children areas, a divisible meeting room and a coffee/refreshment area. This LEED Gold building features a single large 70 by 130 foot long, reading room naturally lit with indirect light. The staff and meeting rooms are separated by a massive geologically-layered concrete wall. Specific acoustical design challenges included speech privacy analysis of the open plan layout, sound isolation of meeting and study rooms, HVAC background noise anaylsis and design recommendations.
