Work on this very high-profile project in downtown Los Angeles included fully refinishing what had been a sorely-neglected and twice-burned historic structure. All new HVAC with the requisite noise and vibration control for a library was required as was noise control between sensitive spaces living in a part of LA that was now far noisier than when first constructed in 1926. This historic "Goodhue Building" was augmented by the new "East Wing" including the highly-regarded 260-seat Mark Taper Auditorium. MCH provided full-scope acoustical consulting services as well as AV systems design throughout including patron listening and viewing areas of library material. The project completed in 1993 for $214M.
